OK, I finally broke down and got new rotor discs for my '99 FLHR, Ol' Red. This is the simple kind of job that I:
A. Do and everything is great and I wonder why I ever worried....
or
B. FUBAR and curse any initiative I may have to fix anything for years to come.
So, the question is, what is there NOT mentioned in the manual that may bite my posterior and end up with Result B? Anything I should be mindful of?
Feel free to school me now, before I get to it (it is well over 100f degrees in my garage now, and likely will be for a few days).

What are some causes of hesitation "inertia" when cracking the throttle from idle. Idle speed approx 1K fuel injected EFI ? No apparent other problem.

I had mentioned this briefly on another thread and thought I would bring it up here. 4-speed tranny sometimes grinds when trying to shift into first. It also makes noises when I roll it around the shop to turn it around. I've timed the lid several times and I've had fellas on the ShovelheadUSA forum say it's likely a clutch problem rather than a timing issue. I did the following things to try and fix it: install a clutch tamer, clean and sand the friction plates and make sure the friction plates are releasing evenly. It worked for a day or so and now is back to its old tricks. It doesn't do it all the time, but enough during a day's ride
I noticed the last time I was inside the lid that the engaging dogs on the larger gears are worn, and I was told that the tranny would jump out of gear...

I have a pair of e3.36 spark plugs. some say they are a waste of money. Others say they work good in big bore motors, 135 hp/136 tq. Have anyone had experience with these plugs or opinions? I haven't tried them yet.

OK, earlier I'd said I was one major repair from getting a new Road King....I lied. Just love Ol' Red too much. But I always hated these wimpy, ugly, obsolete single piston stock brake calipers up front, and so I just ordered new Performance Machine calipers to stick on it tomorrow. Got another short (700 mile) trip to make, and my front right caliper is sticking bad. I know I could just rebuild it for pennies compared to the PM brakes, but I never have had enough stopping power from the front brakes, and they've always dragged more than I liked. Wondering how others thought about their brake upgrades, and whether or not they were satisfied with the result (even though I already ordered them).
