I have a high compression motor. I put a large amount of sta bill into the gas tank on top of octane boost that was in the tank mixed already with 91 octane premium fuel. Started bike up 3 or 4 times during cold winter months. ( bike was not rode for the past 5 1/2 months. I started the bike up today and rode it low speed for approx 1 mile. I hear a chatter type noise around the cam and breather area particular at idle. Is it possible that the gas is flat also take into account the fuel mixtures that could be the cause of the noise that sound ünusual" at idle. When I rev up a bit the chatter type noise appears to go away. The tank is 1/2 full. Should I dump the old fuel or just ride it out to see if that is the cause?

Finally had time and inclination to trace down these problems I was having with my ride:
- I had been going through batteries far to often
- Red (my FLHR) had just stopped once on the highway, then restarted after about a minute
- Fuel mileage sucked (38ish mpg),
- Red was leaking oil but I couldn't see from where (besides the carb breather, that is)
- Throttle response was inconsistent, and sometimes non-existent
- I kept hearing a ticking noise, but couldn't find the source.
First, it turns out that the wires from the alternator were worn and shorting to the frame, but in such a place that I couldn't see it until the bike was running while high on the lift. Rewired it there, shrink-tubed each lead and then shrink-tubed the pair - that won't happen again. That took care of the...

Hello Everyone, just checking in and saying hello. I have been very busy with work and planning vacations.
This is the time of year that I try and get all of the stuff 5gat my bike needs Don completed but haven't had much opportunity to get started yet. Not a lot is needed this year, just a new choke cable, new exhaust and to diagnose an oil pressure gauge issue. Pretty straight forward.
Thanks for looking.

A Texas homeowner fought with and disarmed a man who attempted to invade his home last week.
Longview police said a suspect, later identified Kevin Mitchell Gonzales, 28, attempted to enter the garage of a residence on Monday night, KLTV reported.
The owner fought with the man as Gonzales allegedly pulled out a handgun.
While Gonzales fired the pistol, the homeowner was able to avoid injury and disarm Gonzales. The homeowner held the man down until police arrived on the scene.
Gonzales was arrested and charged with criminal trespass with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

I am replacing the Linkert on my panhead with a CV carb off a 89 Sportster. One of the upgrades I plan on doing is replacing the plastic fuel inlet elbow with a brass one. My question is, do I press in the elbow pointing upward, the way it was. Will the fuel delivery be restricted if it points downward?
