I have a 01 Softail with a fatboy seat that has the back removed. I'm looking for a new solo seat that has a little more support for the lower back without a backrest. I tried Harley's solo seat a couple of years ago. Luckily I was working at the dealership at the time and got it at cost, because by the time I made it to NYC I was ready to toss it. I think it was similar to the "buttcrack" one sold by High End. You really feel like something is getting shoved up there after a couple hundred miles.
Does anyone have any experience with either the Mustang, Corbin or LaPera solos for softails?

Has Harley ever published a chart indicating rpm in correlation to bike speed for the 88TCB motor? Specifically, for those who do not have a tach on their Softtail, what RPM would you be turning at 65MPH in fifth gear? This would seem valuable since the factory does not recommend pushing the stock motor over 5500 RPM for an extended time. From my limited understanding of engineering, that RPM in top gear would equate to a speed that would make the bike aerodynamically unstable. It would seem they should provide a maximum road speed in each gear to prevent overrevving the motor. Or am I overthinking this?

I hope I'm not dragging up an over-used thread but curiosity is getting the best of me! I have an '03 Ultra Classic, less than a year old.....16,000 miles on it. It came with the stock Dunlop D402 tires which the rear wore out and was replaced at about 10,000 miles. My experience with MC tires is this is about the norm, I believe.
Just curious as to what type tires everyone runs on their bike and about what mileage they are getting out of them. I'm not too concerned with getting more miles nor changing brands but if someone has had better luck with something else a lot of us may want to have other options. I also have a V65 Magna (Honda) which came with Dunmlop Qualifiers as original and we are all of the opinion they really suck. I put Metzeler steel belted MEZ2's on it and it...

I'm looking to put more rake on my ride and I'm not sure how far I can go or how much longer the front forks need to be to keep everything running fine. I'm looking at a 4 degree raked triple tree. But not sure if I'll still get a stable ride or how much longer I need to make the front forks to keep a level ride.
