I finally made the run from here in Nevada out through to the Coast on California Hwy 36 once I got to Susanville. I took Hwy 36 to the 101, but called it a day's ride once I found a motel in Fortuna. That was a ride of over 400 miles, lots of twists, 6,000 ft or so of elevation change and 47F degrees in temperature swing.
Hwy 36 is not fully re-paved, yet, out in Trinity county....and since the highway is closed from 8am to 5pm daily for repairs, I did some detouring on roads through the marijuana farms that was VERY aromatic. I think I like dead skunk smell better. Sorry, just not into the weed.

It has been a while since I rode an Indian and when I did, I wasn't very impressed by them.
So why am I bringing this up again? Over this last weekend my wife Hot Rider and I were in Miami Florida. We met up with BaggerPaul and his wife for lunch and after lunch we were cruising around Miami and we decided to stop by an Indian dealership. This is the first time I have stepped foot in an Indian dealership since they were re-released with the purpose of really looking at them. Immediately, BaggerPaul and I were drawn to a specific bike, a Chieftain Darkhorse. To make this as short as I can, I will say that Harley Davidson has their hands full. Indian has come a long way in the short time that they have been back. At this point, I am not about to switch.

Took a day ride today to the local hd shop. Used my bonus bucks to buy wife good summer jacket and then off to swanzey,nh to pappagallos italian restaurant where the veal is the best. I had the veal marseilla and wife had veal Boscasaila. Tried an old school martini...nasty. Didn't even drink 1/2 of it. Stayed with coke.
Eyeballed the new electraglide standard. Would have enjoyed that bike 30-35 years ago. Good looking basic bike. At this point i'd miss the ammenities like radio, gps etc...
About 120-130 miles on the day.

I was at a local, low key event introducing Maya Selva Cigars, which have previously been available only in Europe. Madame Maya Selva herself was there, which was surprising as it was such a small but totally NOT exclusive event at the Reno Tinderbox store. Awesome cigars, a little more pricey than standard smokes, but really worth it. I appreciated that she has crafted very different flavor and strength (medium to kick-tail full) profiles within one brand, though none are of the wimpy Dunhill-type variety. If you like great smokes and can find a Maya Selva or 3, I recommend 'em. The lady, herself, is impressive, at least as far as I could tell from the few hours I was in her company (with about 20 others, too, so no snarkyness, please!. I wish her and her team great success.
