I recently got an 89 FXSTS that was sitting in a heated garage and taken out a couple times a year up and down the road. It has 1580 miles. Upon inspection, the battery was not dead but not enough umph to turn over so it was replaced - that problem fixed. Now after installing the carb rebuild kit (Keihin butterfly carb) it starts, accelerates good, but when just holding speed there is some missing which is very annoying. I have gone through the carb twice now, the second time also replacing the intake manifolds as well. The only problem in the carb I can see is the accelerator pump is not functioning very well. The pin hole in the bottom of the float bowl is no longer a one way valve and just squirts back into the bowl and not the throat jet. I have already spent 75 bucks on this carb,...

I have a 1981 Lowrider. It has after market forks which I think have been home engineered. They are magnificent and I dont want to replace them and the whole triple tree just becasue the fork tubes need resurfacing. Can the fork tubes be chromed to fix the pitting etc....Any advice apprecieted. They are 41mm.

I want to put Python slip-on pipes and a Kuryakyn Hypercharger air box on my '04 FLSTCI. ALL advice is welcome.
So far: I can install the pipes with no worry. I am looking at the Power Commander 3 module with the right map to adjust the EFI, and then perhaps the Kurykyn Hypercharger box. I'm a little worried about the sound and I don't know what performance increase over stock conditions to expect.
I reject the 'standard' Harley high-flow mod with Screamin' Eagles as 'same-o'. I want something louder and prouder. Am I headed in the right direction?
BTW: check out my blog on BLOGGER. I am the 'Harley Biker Brain'.
Yo, down the road,

I have a 02 fxdwg, it is totaly stock except for the pipes and the air cleaner. I put it on the dyno and pulled 71 horse power and 70 ft lbs of torque. I would like to get more without making the size of the motor go up. I have a couple of things in mind and would appreciate a little help in deciding. I would like to put a set of SE211 cams and a 42mm mikuni flatslide carb. What are the benifits of using gear cams instead of chain? Thanks for any help.
