Well, the time is almost here for me to take the engine out of my Road Glide and send it out to get the bottom end done. A lot of things have changed since I decided that I was going to put a new engine in my Glide, things such as displacement, cam choice and using the stock cases vs. buying brand new ones. These decisions were all based on the fact that I was intending on having a new bike by now but instead I bought my wife a really nice bike, so my way of thinking is that I am going to build something that is still powerful, but not so powerful that I can't trust it. After all, Hot Rider and I need to ride out and see Red, if he doesn't kill himself by then. So, in JohnnyBiker fashion, I am going to document the project here. I have a problem with my rear brake. It takes a lot of brake petal pushing to do much of any slowing down. I put new rear caliper and pads, new master cylinder and have terrible brakes. I have to push very hard to make brake light come on also. Maybe that means something. I need suggestions if you guys can help me. Thanks B Nick

I needed to escape. My dog died Tuesday. Just too old for his kidneys. Anyone who has lost a pet, especially one they've had for over a decade, knows how much it sucks.
Having ridden to bingo (the fuel state point that means turn back now or run out - military lingo), I made my way back to the pavement in the 100 degree weather. Since I had my Camelback canteen on, I wasn't too bad off - plenty of water. On the "Loneliest Highway in America", HWY 50, I had two big tractor-trailer trucks race up to me at over 85mph (I was doing just over the 70mph speed limit - needed to mind my gas...

i have a 2005 softail, cams, 1550 conversion, exhaust, stock carb reject, in phx and ran great. here in Utah, it seems like its having a little difficulty idling, mid to top range is fine, so my questions are , what size or model cv carb came stock in 2005? and if the air is thinner up here, is it the pilot jet i should start with? and if so, size up or down? and what number jet would you start with? where can i get the pilot jet? plus any other helpful advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
